LET THE CHILDREN COME TO ME
January 15, 2023THE HOUSE BUILT UPON THE ROCK (Part 2)
January 12, 2024I have been following the Asbury Revival in Wilmore Kentucky since it began a month ago. From the testimonies of people in the news and on the social media sites, I have concluded that this revival is a genuine move of the Holy Spirit targeting primarily the GEN Z generation. It started at Asbury and moved to other colleges and universities across the nation. The Lord is visiting this younger generation and many others that have attended the revival with healing miracles, deliverances from demonic oppression and a spirit of repentance and reconciliation that is extraordinary! The genuine presence of God was present as thousands gathered for worship inside the chapel auditorium and on the grounds of the college campus!
The desperate hunger for God and for a genuine move of the Holy Spirit has captured the hearts and minds of these college students and faculty as they worshipped, prayed and preached non-stop for two weeks. As they testified of their experiences, there was such joy and peace portrayed by all of them, that it was impossible for me not to see the genuineness of their faith, and their experience. With all of the instability in our world and specifically in our country, they cried out to God for help and direction, as they sang the song, “”Firm Foundation,” by Austin Davis, Chandler Moore and Cody Carnes.
The main lyrics to this song read as follows:
Christ is my firm foundation,
The rock on which I stand.
When everything around me is shaken,
I’ve never been more glad
That I put my faith in Jesus
‘Cause He’s never let me down.
He’s faithful through generations,
So why would He fail now.
He wont, He wont . . .
Rain came and wind blew
My house was built on You.
I’m safe with You
I’m gonna make it through . . . ”
Jesus Christ, Himself, spoke of the house that was built on and unshakeable foundation. Matthew 7:24-27 in The Passion Translation reads, “Everyone who hears My teaching and applies it to his life can be compared to a wise man who built his house on an unshakable foundation. When the rains fell and the flood came, with fierce winds beating upon his house, it stood firm because of its strong foundation. But everyone who hears my teaching and does not apply it to his life can be compared to a foolish man who built his house on sand. When it rained and rained and the flood came, with wind and waves beating upon his house, it collapsed and was swept away.”
Jesus Christ is the only firm foundation upon which to build our lives. In Matthew 24:35 in The Passion Translation, Jesus says, “The earth and sky will wear out and fade away before one word I speak loses its power or fails to accomplish its purpose.”
The question remains. What is your house built upon? Who or what firmly holds your life together when everything in your circumstances falls apart? What will happen to you when you die? Where will you go? The answers to all of these questions can be found in the Bible, and Jesus is the author of the Bible. I encourage you to build your life on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ and His word!
PRAYER
“Dear Jesus, I pray that you open the hearts of those who read this blog, and let them know that you are the Son of the Living God and that You are the only one who can save them, give them eternal life and abundant life in this life. Peace and security can only be found in You! Give them the peace and joy that the students at Asbury are experiencing today as they surrender their lives to Your Lordship!”
